What owners wrote

My brakes failed after accelerating from being stopped at a red light. The light turned yellow before we were into the intersection when the vehicle in front of me stopped, speed was less than 10 MPH. I attempted to stop on a bumpy dry surface while braking the pedal went to the floor and hit the vehicle in front of me. Dealership claims brakes were within specifications set by manufacture. Something needs to be done about this problem, there are too many complaints dealing with the ABS system on the silverado.

Reported at 30,000 miles, June 2001 CrashInjury

Dt: without warning, when the consumer slowed down to come to a stop the ABS activated and the vehicle surged ahead. The brake pedal needed to be pushed hard to get the vehicle to stop. The dealer said that sometimes it happens. The consumer has not contacted the manufacturer yet.
