What owners wrote

While traveling to work on a icy road, my accelerator stuck and I couldn't accelerate. It then released all the way to the floor board where it stuck again. I lost control of the pickup and slid into on coming traffic where I had a head on collision. The accelerator sticking was the cause of the wreck and I believe that chevy is well aware of the problem. Something must be done before it happens again.

Reported at 40,000 miles, December 2002 CrashInjury

My wife was driving the vehicle. She stopped at a red light, in rush hour traffic, in the rain. Upon accelerating from the light, the throttle suddenly became stuck wide open. She pushed the clutch, took the truck out of gear and managed to pull safely to the side of the road. The cause of the incident, was the air deflector in the throttle body. It broke off and fell into the throttle, wedging it open.
