What owners wrote
Chevrolet has denied that their 99 and 00 chevrolet silverados do not have a problem with thier new engines. I know of numerous other owners who have this problem which chevrolet acknowledges as a normal sound. I have been told by the dealer that the truck can not be fixed because the new ones make the same noise. I have driven other compriable trucks and they do not have the engine ping/knock. The dealer also said that the noise will eventually go away, but I have seen trucks with 19000 with the noise continuing.
I own a chevrolet 2500 silverado truck, four wheel drive with the 6.0 liter engine. There are three bolts broken off in the intake manifold of the truck due to what I believe was over torquing at the factory.
