My 7 year-old son was killed on 12/21/02 because my 2000 dodge grand caravan went into gear with out stepping on the break. The van rolled down a driveway and my son had his head out the window and he hit a tree and was killed. Granted I am partially at fault for leaving children unattended for less than 2 minutes but the van should have never been able to go out of gear with out stepping on the break. This is not a family safe vehicle.
The consumer was involved in a collision while operating a modified vehicle for the disabled. The consumer stated the hand brake lever failed to stop the vehicle when applied. Please provide further details.
My wife was involved in an accident on a 4 lane road and was going approximately 40-45 MPH when she hit another vehicle with almost no braking involved. Neither the drive or passenger airbag deployed. This was a major selling point when we purchased this vehicle since we would be using it to transport our family. If these do not work then the chrysler corporation should do everything to the best of it's ability to ensure that anyone that buys their products should get what they have paid for.
Repeatedly the entire instrument panel goes dead-no speedometer, odometer, or other gauges visible, also the gearshift indicator lights go dead. Have replaced entire computer at high expense, then had recurrence of problem. Have taken van to dodge dealer but were unable to isolate problem. On dodge forum this is a recurrent defect in these cars-see link [link removed]
