What owners wrote

I drove my f-150 eccoboost truck to the snow, same area I have been hundreds of times and suddenly smoke burst from the engine, then flames shot out around the hood, popped the hood and fought the fire for half an hour, it kept restating. It stranded myself and children, and we had a harrowing experience that was pretty dicey. Ford had just put in a new engine, at my cost, +14,000.00, after the timing chain failed.

Reported at 110,000 miles, January 2020 FireInjury

Engine failure - limp mode - this is a known problem with the ford f-150 ecoboost that ford and NHTSA have yet to address/ issue a recall. I have owned this truck for less than a month and it has twice now gone into 'limp mode'. Merging lanes on the highway and the engine failed, a complete loss of power and ability to accelerate. I was able to avoid a terrible accident and get to the side of the highway.
