2016 Ford Fusion cruise control problems

My 18 year old daughter was driving the fusion attempting to enter a highway ramp (route 22 in springfield nj) to go dorm shopping for school. Upon entering the highway and accelerating on the ramp the vehicle stalled and became unresponsive to acceleration while pressing down in the pedal. The vehicle behind her began to accelerate; the fusion then lost all power, the vehicle stuck her in the rear and pushed my daughters fusion into an active lane with traffic traveling at 55 MPH and up.

Car stopped accelerating in the middle of the highway, yellow wrench light came on and airbag light came on. The car started shaking and came to a complete stop. I barely made it to safety on the highway full of cars. I pulled over and turned it off because it wouldn't drive. I turned it back on and it drove fine. I have researched this and realized this has been happening to thousands of people who own 2016 fusions and yet there is no recall. I am terrified of driving it.
