2006 Nissan Murano engine problems

I was driving on the freeway at 8:30 pm when my vehicle began to lose power and stalling, it finally shut down completely in the fast lane. I frantically tried restart finally it did I was then only able to get the vehicle in the small space between the on ramp and the slow lane of freeway. The traffic was heavy and I almost get hit by a vehicle while attempting to get to a safe place. Where the incident occurred the are concrete barriers due to the expansion work being done on highway 4 west bound.
