Reported at 116,947 miles, June 2013 Fire

A hairline crack developed in the plastic elbow connecting the integral fuel pump/gas tank fuel lines to the engine. This elbow connects a fuel line which is pressurized both with the vehicle operating (about 60 psi) and after the car has been turned off as the fuel system bleeds this operating pressure. The pressure forcibly ejects highly flammable gasoline liquid and vapor into the area immediately above extremely hot exhaust pipes.
