Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry hv. The contact was driving 15 MPH when another vehicle crashed into her vehicle from the front driver side. The contact stated that neither the frontal or side air bags deployed and the vehicle sustained moderate body damage. The contact and a passenger were injured and transported to the hospital with neck and back injuries. A police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The dealer was contacted who advised that the side air bags should have deployed.
I was traveling eastbound on a city street turning into a shopping plaza and applied the brakes to let opposite westboard traffic to clear. The car did not respond to the brakes and I hit the center concrete median that divides east and westbound traffic.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry hybrid. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked the trunk handle melted. The vehicle was taken to a toyota dealer where the mechanic diagnosed that the trunk handle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Started vehicle in parking lot. Warning lights indicated vsc (vehicle stability control) problem, along with ABS problem. Put vehicle in reverse, slowly moved backwards. Brakes did not engage normally, only if the pedal was fully depressed. Took vehicle (slowly) to a nearby toyota dealer. Part that failed is the stroke sensor, which controls the operation of the brakes. Had this failed at freeway speeds I am unsure that I could have safely stopped the vehicle or avoided a collision.
