I started my car and started to drive down the street. I just started when smoke came from dash and left door and fire started in the left door. My arm was burned. My employer checked internet. Many other people have complained about this problem.
Tl*the contact owned a 2007 toyota camry hybrid. While driving 25 MPH and coming to a stop light there was sudden acceleration. While depressing the brakes which went all the way to the floor the vehicle would not stop. As she made a left turn the vehicle crashed into the light pole and was destroyed. There were two injuries but no one was transported to the hospital. The seat belts were worn at the time of impact. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who contacted the insurance company.
Driving along a city road in my 2007 camry hybrid (mileage approx. 49k) at about 25-30 MPH when I saw the "check vsc system" and "check hybrid system" warnings on mil and simultaneously got no response from pressing either the brake or ignition pedal. Car would not go and would not stop. I coasted to the shoulder and the car slowed to a stop (fortunately in a legal parking spot!). I am having it towed to the dealer tomorrow. I will provide an update when I know more.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry hybrid. While driving 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle jerked. In addition, the traction control, emergency brake, and vehicle stability control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 204,000.
