What owners wrote
A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.
I was driving with my cruise control on. I tapped my brakes to disengage my cruise control and they locked long enough to send me into a fishtail. I over-corrected to come out of the fishtail and the escape started rolling. The airbags never deployed even though the escape rolled six times and was totaled while still under factory warranty. My daughter received some minor scratches on her hands.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford escape. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH with the accelerator pedal engaged, it remained stuck in the upright position when she attempted to apply the brakes. After several attempts the contact was able to fully depress the pedal. The failure occurred without warning and intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the mechanic was unable to determine the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The current mileage was 104,000.
We purchased a 2006 ford escape for our daughter that is in college. The vehicle only had around 92,000 miles on it when we purchased. Upon braking, the vehicle will shudder and cut off. She is able to put it in park, restart the vehicle and continue on. There is no rhyme or reason behind when this occurs. She lives in an extremely busy area and this is very dangerous for her. My husband and I have driven the vehicle and have had the same thing happen.
