Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. The contact was sitting idle with the brakes depressed. As he removed his foot from the brake pedal, the vehicle abnormally accelerated and crashed into the rear of the vehicle ahead of him. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was schedule to be repaired. The contact was told that the body damage would have to be repaired before the vehicle could be inspected for internal failures. The contact and a passenger were reported injured. A police report was available.
Takata recall / ford defective product low mileage escape involved in a frontal crash and rear ended another vehicle (2005 accura) and the air bag system failed to deploy. $13,000 escape was totaled. This is unacceptable.
I purchased a 2010 ford escape limited in october 2010. In just two and half of years of having the vehicle and under 50,000 miles, I had to replace the throttle body costing me $385 (after talking the service guy down to that price). The incident occurred on april 24, 2013 while driving home from work for lunch. I was driving on a busy road when my car's speed started to slow down automatically. I tried to press the gas but it would not accelerate although the engine was still on.
Wrench light came on while driving car and barely had enough rpms to get off road. Had to pull battery cable off to get car to move. This happened three times to get the car 20 miles to home then trailered to ford dealer. Said it was a bad tb. The car has also stalled at 0MPH and sometimes surges. One time this winter the car surged causing it to hit my tractor and busted bumper cover and fog lamp.
