I was hit broad side, by driver running red light. He was doing over 50 MPH I was hit left side forward of left door. My steering wheel airbag did not deploy fully. The crash caused only the steering wheel bag to deploy but it only came out maybe half way, it smoldered so bad I panicked seeing all the smoke and had to crawl out of my truck after kicking open the passenger door because the nose of the truck is racked to the right the passenger door would not open.
I was towing a trailer for approx: 5 miles when I notice a strange odor and I pulled over and realized the truck had caught on fire by it self and police and good samaritin tried to put it out but was not successful . Hence the truck and trailer were a total loss along with $ 750 worth hand tools. ( trailer worth approx: $12,500) I was on a two lane road speed 40 (it was a rental truck)
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 GMC sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently stall as the instrument panel would draw blank. The contact stated that the vehicle would resume to normal driving within five seconds of the failure. The contact also mentioned that he had injured his left wrist while turning the steering wheel as the vehicle stalled.
When driving at slow parking lot speeds or when coming to a complete stop the vehicle intermittently lunges, surges or jolts, causing the vehicle to move forward or backwards unanticipated. Sometimes the jolt feels like another vehicle has hit this vehicle from the rear, again causing it to lunge forward.
The vehicle was in motion on a city street, when the vehicle completely powered off. The steering wheel locked. This occurred on 11/22/2020 and 11/23/2020. The following message is on my dashboard 'steering assist is reduced drive with care.'
