What owners wrote
A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.
Vehicle was purchased may 16, 2016. On august 6, 2016 the vehicle completely shut off while traveling 60 MPH down the interstate. The electronic traction control light came on and the 4-wheel drive lights shutoff completely. It only traveled approximately 20-30 feet before coming to a complete stop. All the lights on the dashboard came on and stayed on. After the stop, the driver was able to put the vehicle in park and attempted to restart the vehicle to remove it from the interstate.
Cooling fan began making rattling noise, blew fuse, resulting in check engine light. Vehicle's mileage is 47396. Entire cooling fan assembly had to be replaced. Total cost $878.86. Jeep denies responsibility for faulty fan. Multiple complaints concerning this issue without any recalls to correct this faulty part.
Driving on highway at 70 MPH up a minor incline, the vehicle started hesitating/chugging and then the accelerator pedal stopped responding. Vehicle stalled and coasted to stop where the idle was rough and then died. Initially, would restart, but then stall out. For the next 3 hours (while waiting for a tow), the electrical system was flaking out - intermittently flashing any error in its wheelhouse. Restarted next day and idle very rough/misfiring, engine light blinking and decent cloud of black smoke generated.
