On feb. 17, 2004 I was struck from behind by a kia sportage that was traveling at approximately 55 MPH. I was stopped behind a mitsubishi eclipse at the time. When I was struck it thrust my vehicle into the rear of the eclipse. My airbags in my vehicle never deployed. I am positive that the force of the collision was sufficient enough to cause mine to deploy. My 2 children, as well as myself received whiplash and shoulder/neck injuries.
Tl*the contact owns a 1995 ford mustang. While the vehicle was at a complete stop, the contact noticed smoke coming from the glove compartment area. He investigated under the hood and did not see any smoke in the engine compartment. When he started the ignition, he heard a very loud boom sound, and noticed that the passenger side air bag deployed. The passenger compartment became filled with gas and chemicals from the air bag. There were no warning indicators illuminated.
