Hello I am writing about my honda accord LX, 2000, 4 cylinders. Without any reason (while driving the car), the SRS light went on. When I checked with the honda dealer from where I purchased the car, they mentioned that the computer that controls the airbags is not working anymore. The cost to fix/replace the computer is $960.00. I research on the internet and there are many honda accord with the same problem. This is a very important safety module that should be fixed by honda and not by the consumer. Thank you.
When the consumer stepped on the accelerator, nothing happened, then all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated out of control. After taking the auto to the dealer a number of times, the transmission was replaced , but it did not resolve the problem. Then after another visit to the dealer/mechanic, the consumer was told they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle, since the problem could not be duplicated. The consumer was advised, to keep a record of the mishaps and present it to the states attorney's office.
Tl* the contact owned a 2000 honda accord. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speed, the rear passenger side tire deflated and caused the vehicle to fishtail and crashed on the rail at the side of the road. There was no warning. The air bags deployed and popped and emitted noxious smelling smoke. The contact and his wife sustained sore shoulders, ribs and lower back injuries but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled and was towed away.
Driving a 2000 honda accord (4 cylinder) at approximately 25 miles per hour. Making a right hand turn. Total loss of power to automobile. Complete engine shutdown. Engine restart after second attempt but complete failure again. Check engine light and all dash instrumentation illuminated prior to second engine failure. Car towed to honda dealership. Owner informed that egr valve failed. Owner informed that it was impossible for the egr to fail while car was in motion.
It is possible to turn the ignition key to the off position and remove the key without shifting the transmission to park.
