We were hit in a rear-end collision, and the person hitting us was traveling at 60-65 MPH. We were at a stop, in a line of traffic on the freeway upon impact. Both of the front seats we were sitting in, collapsed backwards upon impact. From what we've researched, if we had a back seat passenger, it would have crushed them, or we could have slipped out of our seat belts. Our research also indicates that an inexpensive fix might avoid the issue for future people who experience a rear end collision.
My car hydroplaned and everything shut off. The brakes and steering wheel locked and the engine shut off. There was nothing I could do to prevent the accident. I was driving under the speed limit and was not engaged in any reckless maneuvering. I felt the car slide in an unnatural direction and when I attempted to counter correct I found the steering wheel had locked. I next tried the brakes which were also unresponsive. The vehicle slide into the center divider on the freeway and I slowly rolled to a stop.
Car failed to accelerate on a major highway (thruway)!! Virtually no warning at all - only ped indicator light flashed on/off. Very lucky to be alive ( myself and 2 kids) . Was able to pull to side of road , into rest /truck stop.area- battery light (red) illuminated . Called service dept at local dealership - described issue .. Now car is turned off - started car again ' engine turns over - shift to d to drive - car doesn't move. Infinity , service (lack of ) dept , roadside assistance , consumer affairs ....
