What owners wrote
Throttle position sensor failed causing engine to race. The vehicle lurched forward and impacted the brick wall by the side of the garage door. The impact knocked the driver unconscious. When he came to the engine was still racing and the tires were spinning. He killed the engine by turning the key off. It bent the bumper and it caused damage to the house. Having a throttle position sensor that can fail in a "non fail safe mode" is a safety hazard.
My 1992 ford f-150 caught fire while parked in my driveway. The entire engine compartment burned for 10-30 minutes before the exploding front tire drew our attention. The fire inspector told us other f-150 models were suspected of having a cruise control switch/fire problem, but there is no recall at ford for this model/year.
