I purchased a used vehicle which had a "malfunctioning check valve w/in the fuel pump assembly" causing fuel to return to the opposite tank and then due to overfill and pressure in tank causing it to come out of fuel cap. This issue was covered under NHTSA campaign id's: 93v125000/01I008000. I brought the vehicle to a dealership and they refused to repair the vehicle saying it was outside of the 12years/150,000mls warrantee date.
Tl*the contact owns a 1992 ford f150. While the engine was idling, fuel began to leak onto the ground. The dealer stated that the check valve failed and caused fuel to leak from the rear tank into the front tank. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign id number 93v125000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly); however, they would not authorize the repair due to the age of the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 113,000. Updated 01/07/08. Updated 12/31/07
