We bought honda 2005 odyssey last june. On oct 4, we were involved in an accident. I was going 40 MPH when someone in a ford f250 pulled out right in front of me with the speed of 15 MPH (according to the police report). The ford truck crashed into the left front side of the van. Only the two front air bags deployed. My 2-year-old boy was sitting right behind the driver' seat. He was buckled in a 5-point car seat. His side sliding door's window (tinted) shattered and the broken glass flew into his face with force.
I was involved in an accident where my children's and my seatbelts were defective. My children's carseats were not secure and upon impact jilted forward. My son and daughters heads hit the handle on the seat directly in front of them. Honda sent out their team of technical specialist who inspected the van and said the seat belts didn't work because no-one used seatblelts. However the police and first responder are the ones who unbuckeled my childrens seats and it is in the reports everyone was restrained.
We were traveling at about 55MPH when the car in front of us suddenly came to a complete stop. I stepped as hard on the brake as I could and we hit the rear of the car in front straight on. The complete front of my car was crushed. We were thrown against the seat belts and both suffered cracked sternums. None of the air bags deployed. I have photos of my car after the accident.
My wife and I purchased a new honda odyssey van in 2005 which was equipped with pax runflat tires. At the time, we were told that the tires would wear like regular non run-flat tires, and would be 10-15% more expensive to replace. We were also told that all honda dealers would have the necessary equipment to service these special tires. None of these statemants has proven to be true. The tires are all worn out at 31k miles, and we were quoted a price of $1300 plus tax to have them replaced.
