While driving the car on a busy street in Austin, Texas, the air conditioner stopped working. The driver and passenger (vehicle owners) noticed a burning smell. The driver pulled over and turned off the engine. Upon opening the hood, smoke was observed coming from the front passenger floorboard area. Melting hot plastic was observed dripping from under the dash. Flames were observed coming from the floorboard carpet.

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 - 65 MPH, another vehicle struck the contact's front driver's side, causing the contact's vehicle to spin. The vehicle then crashed into the side embankment wall. The air bags did not deploy. The impact caused the contact's chest to hit the steering wheel. The contact suffered a fractured sternum as well as neck and shoulder injuries. The contact's passenger suffered bruising on her neck, shoulder, and chest.
Tl* the contact rented a 2015 ford expedition. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed through a telephone pole and a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated that smoke entered the vehicle after the crash. The vehicle was towed to an independent facility. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The car horn does not work whether the car is in motion or stopped. I feel this is a great safety hazard for me and other drivers out on the road.
Three times the vehicle has gone into "limp mode" with the wrench light being displayed on the dash. I have gone to the dealership each time and no failure code is coming up. They will not fix the vehicle without the failure code being displayed and recommended towing the vehicle next time it happens. I have fear of driving this vehicle on the highway.
