Not sure what component caused the vehicle to burst into flames. It is no longer (to the best of my knowledge) available for inspection (unless still at tow yard). The Jeep burned, caught another vehicle in the driveway on fire, as well as fence separating neighbor's house, and spread to structure (my house). Vehicle was inspected by ins. reps/others. It was taped off as battery was still live. Fire report states vehicle fire. Car was parked in driveway and was not driven for two days. No prior warnings or recalls.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 jeep grand cherokee. After the contact's wife parked the vehicle in the driveway, she leaned over to get her purse and stepped on the accelerator pedal. The gear was in park; however, the vehicle sped off and crashed into the wall of the garage. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired at the local mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.
When driving the motor starts racing and the rpm's go way up. Most times it does it when you first take off. You have to come to a stop, turn the motor off and start all over. Occasionally, this may not work. The repairman cannot find out why because it is not doing it when you take it back to the dealer. Not easy to deal with when in traffic and it is burning gas like crazy. It first did it coming back to nc from fla on 95 after the hurricane. I don't know the exact day. My girlfriend followed me from s.c.
