We were using cruise control in our new jeep. As we were approaching a red traffic light, we tried to disengage the cruise control by using the brake. The vehicle would not stop. The brakes were completely engaged and locked, but the vehicle kept moving forward into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, the driver of an 18 wheeler saw us unable to stop and swerved. His swerving and our steering caused us to be stopped by his hind wheel. If the other driver had noticed us one second slower, we would have likely been dead.
