I was involved in a low speed frontal crash on an interstate highway. I was belted in and didn't even touch the airbag, but the airbag shot flames out of the right side hole burning my arm like a blowtorch. I have photos of the injury and it's healing stage. I was advised to go to the hospital for stitches as it split my arm open wide, but I'd been there 5 times in the last 8 months and just dressed it myself. The airbag is supposed to help prevent injury and it was the only thing that caused an injury!
We were traveling at a speed of 55-60 MPH on a highway when we were hit from behind. I was in the front passenger seat. The van went straight to its side and I hit the door window and we continued to roll numerous times and then came to a stop on its side, my same side. During the crash and rollover the opposite passenger sliding door was partially ripped away. Two of the passengers were ejected from the van. No air bags deployed.
Airbags did not deploy in the crash. Van has been totaled by the insurance. Much front end damage; van flipped end for end braking windshield & both front drivers & passengers windows. Seat belts saved their lives, with injuries to body & heads. Van speed maybe 40 m.p.h. On highway & uphill on a curve. Single vehicle accident, driver blinded by on coming headlights from another vehicle. We never received a recall, but looks like modular/airbag control unit may corrode & fail, recall s07 for some 2008 vans only.
My chrysler town and country minivan is experiencing major electrical issues including, all dashboard lights coming on, no speedometer readings, no gas gage, wipers go on and off, driver seat moves randomly while driving, and radio/clock come and go. At times the transmission will not change gears. This vehicle is a major safety concern. I believe it's problems with the tipm. I have no idea how fast I'm driving, if I have any gas, have to adjust to the seat moving while I'm driving down the highway.
Vehicle shuts off while driving. How can this problem, addressed literally hundreds and thousands of times on multiple sites, be judged by your department as not a "safety issue"? I, along with my wife, have been driving down the road with my family at highway speeds and the van completely shuts down. I have been driving down my driveway at low speeds and the van completely shuts down. The van behaves as if possessed.
